This azure is laying eggs on Verbesina alternifolia (Wingstem), rather than Flowering Dogwood which grew next to the Wingstem. Three azures occur in the Washington, D.C., Area. Two species, the Holly Azure and the Spring Azure are difficult to tell apart in the field. The Spring Azure is a common species in the Area.
