The Hog Sphinx is native to southern Quebec through Florida and west through North Dakota and Texas (Covell 1984, plate 6, page 43).
This moth is a common sphinx in eastern North America.
Larvae of this moth feed on Porcelainberry, viburnums, and Virginia Creeper.
There are two broods per year.
Adults occur from April through September.
Another common name for this moth is Virginia Creeper Sphinx.
